Hope everyone is enjoying the Summer months! Remember every time you cry about this heat wave, just scan through the other blogs and read the complaints about it being 2 degrees and you will feel much better ;)

So just an update on all things coming up for myself and my merry band of pirates...

As you have read on the last blog and noticed the front page of this site, we have some really great shows coming up!

In about 2 weeks, we will be heading back over to New London CT playing another show at our new favorite place to play these days 33 GOLDEN on AUGUST 18TH! We had such a great time in June and it's such a cool place so we are all excited to make the trip and play the opening slot again.  If you are in the area, we'd love to see you!

And as I mentioned above,  as you probably saw on Social Media and the home page of this site, I WILL BE HAVING A BIG ALBUM RELEASE PARTY IN SEPTEMBER AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

When I was working on finishing up the album with Gary and picking a release date, ever since I released my first album I've always toyed with putting together a show at a venue or hall that we could rent ourselves so we can have a big party for the release. Since I haven't done on the last two albums (not without some trying, I got close when we did HEAL, but the venue flaked) for this one, I decided to give it another shot to see what we could do.

After doing some research, I came across a place right here in Danbury called A COMMON GROUND which when looking at the rates, not only was it affordable (some wanted thousands!) it was local for everyone and after speaking to the lovely women who runs the place, I was able to secure SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 15TH! We have a really great show planned with a bunch of bands I consider good friends and brilliant musicians and I can't wait!

Not only will the night be in the "theme" of the new album, the mix of music is perfect with sounds ranging from rock, to pop, to R&B/Funk/Soul and even swing music! I really love seeing shows with a good mix so you are not getting pummeled with "10 metal bands for $10!" There will be great music, a great vibe, drinks, food, possible vendors, a great professional light/sound system courtesy of my pal Jeff and my Splits bandmates and so much more I can't wait!

However, in order for this night to be a success and if you want to see more shows like this, we can't do it alone my friends....

Not to get too "Inside Baseball" with this, but when it comes to putting on a show like this, there are lots of costs and other things involved that are incurred by the artist before hand (aka myself).

I could of easily booked a gig in a bar or a club, tried to make it our own, do it for nothing and hope for the best but I don't know I just wanted to try something different for a number of reasons.

Nothing at all against these venues, please we actually need MORE venues supporting original music and live music in general! But at the same time, wouldn't it be nice to actually go somewhere, listen to some good music and have a good time without all of the "normal bar nonsense"?

Don't get me wrong, I love playing new venues and getting my music out to new people (that's the end game right?). But at the same time dealing with the local drunks, cranky owners/promoters, setting up in front of a pool table next to a dart board and a flashing sign of Natty Light to a few people who would rather watch the game on the flat screen and eat their 10 cent wings than listen to me sing along to a song about pegging. That can get old sometimes.

Being a long hair metal dude or even during my shaved head hardcore years as a kid growing up on the mean streets of Mahopac NY, I LOVED as a teen going to see punk/hardcore shows at the local VFW halls! Back then in the 80's there would be a ton of bands playing loud, fast, aggressive music to a bunch of rabid fans jumping all over the place and having a great time for $5 tops. No "how many people/tickets can you bring?"  No fighting for position with other bands for spots, no big fat bouncer or sound dude giving you the "Last song!" it was for the love of music, scene, community and friends getting off to loud amps and drums in a local hall they rented, or probably got for free from a parent who was a member and proudly served.

If they could do it in the 80's as a teen, why not NOW in our 40's/50's with more resources?

I get it, nowadays it's tough to get a sitter, leave the comfort of your Netflix and head out for the night for a few hours, but if you are going to make the effort to do so? Why not go to a show listening to kick ass music as adults with a $1 drink in your hand with a crowd that actually enjoys live music more than Billiards and Quick Draw!

My goal for this show is not to make a ton of money. Quite the contrary my goal is to not LOSE a bunch of money and put on a great show in a controlled, fun environment with like minded folks. If it's a success, who knows? Maybe we can keep doing more of them and possibly (gasp!) get a scene going with a bunch of cool, local, unsigned original music artists!

But, as I said before getting on a soapbox WE NEED YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT!  Here's what I am looking for:

1) DOOR PERSON:  Someone reliable who can sit by the door, collect the tickets, check ID's and provide wristbands to the people who have purchased VIP tickets.

2) MERCH PERSON: Someone who will be at the table selling shirts, stickers, albums and other swag on behalf of the bands for the night.

3) BARTENDER - I use this term loosely you won't be mixing drinks and tossing bottles like Tom Cruise, but we will be selling beer/soda/water/wine at the show. VIP ticket includes OPEN BAR so if they have a wristband, it's "free" for them and if not? $1 a drink. Please keep a tip jar on the counter cause that's for you!

Anyone who takes these jobs will be paid $20 and receive FREE VIP admission to the show which means the drinks are on us too! If you are going to come anyway, why not help and make a few dineros while you are there?

If you are interested, please feel free to e-mail and I can take your info and send over details.

Like I said, in order for us to all have a good time and have it be a success WE NEED TO SELL TICKETS TO COVER COSTS so please don't delay in picking them up ASAP!

There is only a limited number of tickets available and I am trying to eliminate selling tickets at the door if possible. If I can walk into the place with the costs already paid, not only does that help and looks good to the place, the bands performing will see some of that too! Trust me, It won't be myself or the band driving away with a sack full of cash if the costs are covered, each band will be getting an even cut of the profits.

So be on the lookout for more updates on the new album, the show and other things in the coming weeks.

Much self love,
